Over 1000 families in the Shannonside region have availed of the new-born baby grant.
Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary released the figures this week.
Budget 2025 introduces a once-off €280 Newborn Baby Grant to help families cover the material needs of a new-born or newly adopted child.
The grant supports the Government’s First 5 strategy, which focuses on improving outcomes for young children and families.
It is paid automatically with the first Child Benefit payment, with no separate application required.
According to the latest figures released by Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary, 1,331 families have availed of the grant in the Shannonside region so far.
This figure makes up 303 families in Leitrim and 451 in Longford.
Meanwhile Roscommon have the largest number of families in the region to receive this grant with 577.
The grant has been paid to approximately 49,000 families in respect of 50,000 new-borns and newly-adopted children since its introduction last year.
