The N63 between Lanesboro and Longford Town is set to close for a period of six weeks.
Longford County Council says the closure is to facilitate pavement improvement works between Kilashee Village and Gowland.
The council has confirmed that a stretch of the national route will be closed for six-week period.
The closure will come into effect in the period between Monday, July 6th and Friday, August 28th.
A contractor has been appointed and the exact dates for the closure will be confirmed early next week.
Once the works commence, motorists will be diverted onto the R397 to Terlicken and then R392 to Lanesboro when travelling from Longford.
Motorists travelling from Lanesboro will be diverted onto the R392 to Terlicken and then turn left and take the R397 to Ballymacormack.
The council also say that traffic exiting Longford will be unable to access Killashee village along the N63 during the road closure.
The road will be closed for a period of 6 weeks with the works to be completed by August 28th at the latest.
