Mohill badly affected by power outages after overnight thunderstorms

Over 1,000 homes, farms and businesses are without power in Mohill, Co Leitrim, after thunderstorms overnight.

There are also smaller outages in several other Shannonside areas, including Castlerea, Ballaghaderreen, Tarmonbarry and Creagh.

Nationwide, around 36,000 homes, farms and businesses are without power this morning.

ESB Network crews are working to restore power to all customers in areas impacted by lightning related outages.

Work is also being undertaken to repair damage to infrastructure caused by the bad weather.
