Inspector David Cryan says An Garda Síochána are conscious of the need to be proactive in rural towns and villages.

Roscommon Gardaí have been reaching out to rural communities this week by way of a 'mobile Garda station'. The community policing unit, which is based in Galway, has been deployed to four villages in the county as part of efforts to implement a visible Garda presence.  Roscommon Community Garda Kelley Doolan visited Ballyforan and Taughmaconnell on Tuesday before spending yesterday in Ballyleague and Knockcroghery respectively. She explains how the Garda vehicle works:
