Conor McGregor's supporters have written to Longford County Council to encourage them to nominate the sportstar for the presidency.
The council is holding a special meeting next week to consider whether to back a candidate.
Candidates need to be backed by four local authorities to get on the ballot paper for the presidential election on October 24th - if they haven't been supported by 20 Oireachtas members.
A total 21 candidates are looking for Longford council's endorsement.
They're holding a special meeting next Monday from 11am to 2pm.
Each potential candidate seeking nomination will give a ten-minute presentation to councillors.
Supporters of McGregor have also written to the council.
They urge councillors 'to put his name to the people' by nominating McGregor as a candidate.
