Fianna Fáil councillor Marty McDermott is to become the cathaoirleach of Roscommon Municipal District today.
He's expected to replace Castlerea councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice at their AGM this morning, with Councillor Larry Brennan to become leas-cathaoirleach.
Councillor McDermott will hold the role for one year and will get an allowance of €6,000.

He previously had the job in 2022/2023 and has been a councillor for the past seven years.
