Man pleads guilty over substantial Athlone drugs seizure

The drugs were discovered at a house in Monksland last March.

A man in his 30s has pleaded guilty to the possession of €70,000 worth of cocaine at a house in Athlone last year.

The drugs were discovered at a property in Monksland in March 2021, leading to the arrest of two men.

Anton Ring of Teach Mhuire, Roxboro Road in Limerick appeared before Judge Francis Comerford in Roscommon Circuit Court this week.

He pleaded guilty to the unlawful possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine for sale or supply under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Counsel for the defence requested that Mr Ring be allowed continue his addiction treatment at Cuan Mhuire as he awaits sentencing.

Judge Comerford remanded Anton Ring on bail to appear before the court in June to be sentenced.
