A man has died following a two vehicle collision in County Westmeath this afternoon.
Emergency services attended the scene of an incident on the N4 at Ballinalack around 4:20pm.
The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 60s, was brought to Midland Regional Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the second car, a woman in her 60s, has been brought to hospital with serious injuries.
The road is currently closed for a technical exam and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
