A man has died and a girl has been injured after shots were fired at a shopping centre in Carlow Town.
The child received treatment from paramedics following the incident, but did not need hospital care.
The Army Bomb Disposal Team attended the scene at the Fairgreen Shopping Centre, and the area was sealed off overnight.
Gardaí were alerted following reports of shots fired shortly after a quarter past 6 yesterday evening.
