A man in his 30s has been arrested after an assault in Longford town last night.
The incident occurred on Richmond Street at around 8pm.
A man is understood to have suffered arm injuries during the incident and he was subsequently hospitalised in Mullingar for treatment.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Richmond Street last evening and who may have information, including camera footage, to contact with Gardaí at Longford on (043) 3350570,
