Man appears in court charged with breaking into St Christopher's in Longford

A man has appeared in court charged with breaking into St Christopher's Special School, Longford, and criminal damage to the property last week. Derek Hickey, with an address at Shangan Crescent, Ballymun, Dublin 9, appeared before Judge Deirdre Gearty this morning at Longford District Court, but was further remanded in custody with consent to bail. Mr Hickey initially appeared before Judge Ciaran Liddy at a special sitting of Carrick-on-Shannon District Court on Friday following a number of incidents in Longford town.

He was charged with one count of burglary at St Christopher's at 2.45am last Thursday morning, one count of criminal damage to a vehicle by attempting to start it shortly afterwards, and one count of theft from Aldi, Longford on Wednesday evening. He will reappear on Tuesday, June 17th, before Longford District Court.
