A long-awaited major roads project looks set to finally commence early next year. There are positive indications that the contract for the N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramogue bypass will be rewarded soon. The project is expected to increase road safety in towns and villages along the route and act as a boost to the local economy.
Local Fine Gael Councillor Liam Callaghan said the news will be welcomed by businesses and residents in the region. Speaking to Shannonside News, Cllr Callaghan said a preferred contractor had been identified:
