There has been a significant increase in the number of drink driving checkpoints and road traffic offences detected across Leitrim in the last year.
The first Joint Policing Meeting of the year heard that that drug driving detections were also on the rise.
Figures presented by Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken at the Leitrim JPC meeting this week revealed a rise in certain types of crimes across the county - linked in part to the easing of Covid restrictions.
Burglaries were down just over 25% while domestic violence incidents also showed a similar reduction.
However Roads Policing Units have ramped up activities, with MIT checkpoints up 400% from a total of 11 year last year to 60 in the last 12 months.
Dangerous driving offences also grew from a total of two to nine in the space of a year and two drug driving detections were also recorded by Gardaí.
The opening of the economy also saw an increase in public order offences - with figures rising from three in February 2021 to a total of sevens on the same date this year.
