Major festival to mark 35th anniversary of closure of Arigna mines

The Arigna 35 Festival includes a commemoration Mass, a night with the miners, and a dinner dance.

A festival is taking place next week to mark the 35th anniversary of the closure of Arigna mines.

It's taking place between July 9th and 12th.

On the final day of the festival on July 12th, a new AstroTurf pitch will be opened in Arigna.

The Arigna Recreational Enhancement committee is behind the project.

Its secretary Joe Daly says it's been a long time coming for the local community:
