Lough Funshinagh residents say today is a day of relief rather than celebration as they prepare to switch on a temporary pumping system. Flooding at the former turlough has led to devastation in the south Roscommon community since 2016 with the loss of homes and land. OPW Minister Kevin 'Boxer' Moran will turn on the new temporary system later this afternoon. Excess water from the lake will then be removed to the Cross River in Carrick, Co Roscommon. The system will be in operation for two years until a permanent solution is in place.
