Longford student officer says changes would be needed to curriculum if schools cant fully reopen

The Union of Secondary Students says that changes to the curriculum and the Leaving Cert will need to be considered if schools are not allowed reopen fully from September.

Interim guidance from the Department of Education says that while children at primary level over 3rd class will be asked to stay one metre apart, at secondary school children will be asked to keep a distance of 2 metres where possible.

This will mean the only option for many schools will be blended learning - part online at home and part in school.

Deputy President of the Irish Secondary Students Association, Longford's Luke Casserly says that if that happens, the Department will need to consider changes to leaving cert curriculum.
