Longford principal hopes Covid supports will remain in place

Measures were brought in to assist schools following the Pandemic.

A Longford principal hopes resources introduced during the pandemic will continue into the next academic year.

The Covid Learning and Support Scheme was put in place in 2020 to help schools mitigate the impacts of Covid-19 on student's learning loss and wellbeing arising from the periods of school closure.

This included the provision of additional teaching hours, however, it's unclear if these measures will be kept in place after the Summer.

Hazel Hannon from Lanesboro Community College believes extra teachers are still required to assist students.

She's believes if the hours are removed too early it will have a major impact on some pupils.
