A Longford native has been appointed as chief Superintendent at the Garda National Community Engagement Bureau.
The former Cavan Superintendent Padraic Jones is expected to take up the role from the 17th of October.
The Bureau, which is based in Dublin, focuses on developing and implementing strategies around community policing in both urban and rural settings.
