Longford was the county with the most affordable homes on the market in the last quarter. While a MyHome.ie report found Leitrim to be the second-most affordable county, despite seeing one of the largest year-on-year price increases in the country. The report for the second three months of this year, compiled in association with Bank of Ireland, shows that the median asking price for a property in Co. Longford is now €155,000. This means that Longford was the most affordable county in the country in the last quarter, even though prices have risen by €10,000 compared with this time last year.
Meanwhile, property prices in Leitrim have risen by €15,550 during the quarter, but it was still deemed to be the second-most affordable county in Ireland despite having seen the second-largest year-on-year price increase. While the report reveals the median asking price for a property in Co. Roscommon is now €200,000, and the county is now the tied-third most affordable in the country. By the end of the quarter, there were 485 properties for sale in the Shannonside region, with Leitrim seeing a 36% increase compared to the previous quarter. All three counties in the Shannonside region ranked at the top of the list for affordability. While the average time for a sale agreement to be reached after being placed up for sale stands at an average of two months in all three counties.
