Longford councillor urging public to slow down on newly-finished Battery Road
The traffic lights are now operational on the Battery Road

The project will be officially opened on the 17th of June by Minister of State at the Department of Transport Sean Canney.

A Longford County Councillor is urging members of the public to slow down on the newly finished Battery Road in the town.
Controversial works on the road have caused long traffic delays for two years, leading to a signifficant amount of complaints from residents and businesses.
The new traffic lights at the Battery Road and Lisbrack Junction were turned on this week for the first time after works were complete from Church Street to the Red Cow Roundabout.

The project has seen the creation of dedicated cycle paths, new footpaths, the undergrounding of electricity and phone lines and the upgrade of public lighting.
The project will be officially opened on the 17th of June by Minister of State at the Department of Transport Sean Canney.
Longford Councillor and local resident Peggy Nolan is asking people to stick to the 50 kilometres an hour speed limit.

Responding to comments on social media criticising the finished layout of the road, the Fine Gael representative says people need to stop spreading negativity:
