A shooting in Longford town last night has been described as “attempted murder". Shots were fired at a house in the Springlawn area shortly before 8 o’clock.
A man in his 70s was seriously injured and he is being treated in Mullingar Hospital, as Garda investigations continue. Fianna Fáil councillor Seamus Butler, the Cathaoirleach of Longford Municipal District, says it was a very serious incident:
