A well known local employer has received planning permission for a new renewable energy project at the site of their Longford factory.
Glennon Brothers Timber Saw Mills on the outskirts of Longford Town had applied for over 1000 squared metres of solar panels on the roof tops of the facility off the N4.
The application included plans for the 184.2 kilowatt panels and all associated site works at the major local company.

The go ahead was granted by Longford County Council with 6 conditions attached.
This includes a provision that no advertising or signage be attached to the development.
