A long-standing local councillor has announced she will not be contesting the next local elections.
Independent representative Valerie Byrne will step out of public life after over 25 years of service in 2029.
The Elphin councillor was re-elected to the Boyle Municipal District in 2024, picking up 13.74 per cent first preference votes.
