Residents in Longford and Roscommon are being encouraged to attend an information event about a proposed Mid Shannon Greenway later this week.
The Greenway will connect Tarmonbarry, Ballyleague, Rooskey and Lanesborough via a new walking and cycling trail.
A public consultation will take place in The Percy French Hotel in Strokestown on Wednesday between 3 o' clock and 8.
Local Councillor Joe Murphy says these areas have plenty to offer to the public as tourist attractions:
'Greenways are so important in every area now no matter where you go in the country.
I think we have so much to offer in regards to accessing all the beautiful spots we have.
It's never ending, like Rooskey, Kilglass, Strokestown House, Sliabh Bawn and you have Tarmonbarry aswell and Ballyleague.'
