More than €11 million has been set aside for active travel measures across the Shannonside region.
The funding will support the delivery of walking and cycling infrastructure.
Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien has announced €360 million in Government funding for Active Travel and Greenways for this year.
Roscommon County Council secured the most locally, at €4.6 million, which comprises €1.5 million for the development of Ballaghaderreen town.
While Leitrim is due to receive nearly €3.5 million, including €200,000 for a town junction upgrade in Drumshanbo, and €190,000 for an Active Travel link in Carrigallen.
Longford County Council will benefit from €3 million in funding, which will allow the development of a cycleway at Templemichael from the Camlin Bridge to the Mall in Longford town.
The funding also includes €400,000 for a cycleway from Stonepark National School to the Silver Birches housing estate.
It's expected that 200km of walking and cycling infrastructure will be delivered in 2026, in line with the Climate Action Plan.
