Local towns unsafe for people with disabilities says local carer

Towns in Co Roscommon are unsafe for people with disabilities, according to a carer.

Joe Malone claims many streets are not wheelchair-friendly and there is a lack of traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.

Mr Malone works for Roscommon Disability Support Group and is also a carer for his 87-year-old mother, Teresa, at her home in Ballinlough, near Castlerea.

Roscommon County Council says it is taking steps to improve conditions for all vulnerable road-users throughout the county.

But Mr Malone says more action is needed:
