A local TD has called for schools in Longford to be included in the upcoming DEIS plus programme. Fine Gael TD Micheal Carrigy raised the issue with Tánaiste Simon Harris in the Dáil last week. There are currently 23 schools in Longford with DEIS status.
The DEIS plus programme is set to provide additional support to a small number of schools with the highest levels of disadvantage. Deputy Carrigy says he wants to see some schools in Longford benefit from the programme:
