Longford-Westmeath TD Peter Burke is strongly tipped to become a cabinet minister this evening. He is currently a junior minister, holding the EU affairs and defence portfolios.
The Fine Gael TD is expected to be appointed Enterprise Minister by incoming Taoiseach Simon Harris later today. Political analyst Johnny Fallon says it would be a boost for the Shannonside region:
