Government urged to intervene in ambulance strikes

Action is taking place in Athlone, Carrick-on-Shannon, Roscommon and Longford.

Protests by SIPTU and Unite members employed by the National Ambulance Service are continuing their 24-hour protests across the Shannonside region.
Action is taking place in Athlone, Carrick-on-Shannon, Roscommon and Longford.
Those locally are some of the approximately 2,000 members involved in the dispute.

Unions say there is an ongoing failure of management to implement the 2020 roles and responsibilities review.
Sligo-Leitrim TD Martin Kenny attended a number of protests earlier today.
He says the ball is in the government's court:

Local woman Maeve Kelly says ambulance crews saved her life following a fatal road traffic collision ten years ago.
Speaking to Let's Talk, she explained why she joined the picket line in Athlone today:
