Sinn Féin TD Claire Kerrane has denied claims she misled the people of Ballaghaderreen over public realm works. She was responding to comments made by Fianna Fáil councillor John Keogh during yesterday's monthly meeting of Roscommon County Council. Cllr Keogh said the people of Ballaghaderreen were advised the controversial project could be amended but the person who told them this didn't back up their assertion with facts.
Deputy Kerrane had previously told a protest rally in the town that a revised Part 8 planning submission was an option. Other public representatives present on the day in Ballaghaderreen also supported calls for a revised plan. Speaking yesterday, Cllr Keogh said there was no scope to change a Part 8 project:
