A number of local students were recognised for their work at this year's BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.
Sean Allen from Roscommon Community College won 1st place in the Biological and Ecological category.
Marist College students in Athlone Donal McDermott and Tega Awhinawhi received a special award for their project COMREG.

Sarah O'Beirne from Mohill Community College was highly commended for her investigation on wind turbines as was Lanesboro community college student Conor Lyons for his project on Learning Environments.
Athlone Community College students Jasper Ryan, Seán Brennan, Shreyash Shukla was also highly commended in the Biological & Ecological category.
