A local Senator has welcomed a potential jobs boost for Longford following news that a US-based healthcare manufacturer is looking to expand. Longford County Council is facilitating the expansion following its sale of the former Eircom site to support Technimark's growth in the region. Technimark currently operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on the Ballinalee Road in Longford Town.
The former Eircom site was purchased by the council in May and Technimark's move into the facility could generate between 120 and 150 jobs. Fianna Fáil Senator Joe Flaherty has welcomed the news:
