It's claimed the closure of Longford greyhound track has had serious negative economic impact on the county town.
That's according local Senator, Paraic Brady, who was speaking in the Seanad about the funding of horse and greyhound racing in Budget 2026.
Stadium management cited falling attendances and rising insurance costs for the closure in August 2019.

Following this, a greyhound advocacy group is calling on the Fine Gael representative to clarify his comments.
Greyhound Action Ireland is calling on Senator Brady to provide evidence in support of that claim.
