Local restaurateurs hopeful over expected easing of restrictions

Local pubs and restaurants are hopeful that business will improve quickly when opening hours are brought back to normal.

A Carrick-on-Shannon restauranteur says operating a four-day week model is helping them retain staff during the Covid pandemic.

Connor Maher from The Oarsman in the town was commenting today ahead of restrictions being eased in the coming days for the sector.

He says they're very hopeful that business will improve quickly when opening hours are brought back to normal, and they're glad to have the staff to respond to that demand.

Speaking on Let's Talk this afternoon Connor Maher says retention of staff in the hospitality sector is a challenge that they have looked closely at during this pandemic.

He says the introduction of a four day week since the first lockdown has been a very positive development for all concerned:
