Over €1.2 million has been awarded to tourism projects in the region under the EU’s Just Transition Fund Private and Community SME Scheme.
The scheme co-funded by the Government and the European Union delivers grant-aid to private and community-based SMEs to help them improve the quality of the visitor experience.
A number of projects in Longford were successful.
Just over €282,000 has been allocated to Heritage Eco Pods in Granard with over €247,000 on the way to Shannogue Stables in Lanesborough.
While €40,000 and €1,000 has been awarded to Studio Arts and Crafts Limited and Tabitha and Norah.
In Roscommon, €300,000 will go towards the design and planning for the full restoration and adaptive reuse of Kingston Hall and its grounds for accommodation purposes.
Close to €190,000 is on the way to Gleeson’s Townhouse for the addition of accessible bedrooms with bathrooms, enhancing pathways, installing automatic doors, and creating accessible dining areas.
Conversion of an existing bedroom and adjoining room into an accessible bedroom and update all toilets in wheelchair-accessible rooms totalling over nearly €53,500 at the Abbey Hotel.
