Rahara man Edward John Beattie died last Tuesday at the age of 86 – three years after being forced to flee his home for several months because of flooding.

A south Roscommon man’s life was shortened by the Lough Funshinagh flooding crisis, according to a local campaign group. Rahara man Edward John Beattie died last Tuesday at the age of 86 – three years after being forced to flee his home for several months because of flooding.

The Lough Funshinagh Flood Crisis committee says he suffered immensely because of the crisis. Fianna Fáil senator Eugene Murphy is expressing his condolences to the Beattie family and has no issue with the committee’s statement:
