A number of local Fianna Fáil members in the Shannonside region have expressed their frustration over the party's approach to the Presidential election.

Party leader and Taoiseach Micheál Martin apologised to his party over the handling of the campaign at a parliamentary party meeting last night.

He acknowledged there's been deep frustration and hurt among members after candidate Jim Gavin withdrew from the race.
