Many fields were left waterlogged in Shannonside region following Storm Amy.

Livestock were forced into sheds to protect them from the deluge with fields left waterlogged.

Farmers are counting the cost of Storm Amy. While many were impacted by fallen trees and branches, it was the prolonged showers of rain which has hurt some most. Livestock were forced into sheds to protect them from the deluge. However, fields across the Shannonside were left waterlogged and in some areas, flooded. Longford IFA Chairperson John Sheridan says it happened in an already tough time for farmers.

John feels farmers will be hoping to bring their animals back outside this week:
