A local Eurovision winner says it would be a 'good idea' for RTÉ to launch its own song contest this year.
Charlie McGettigan was speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound following the announcement the state broadcaster will boycott this year's competition over Israel's participation.
RTÉ declared it was also making the decision to take a stand against the 'targeted killing of journalists in Gaza.'
The 1994 winner says it was a 'small sacrifice to make' when weighing it with the people who died in Israel's bombardment of Gaza since the start of the conflict in 2023.
