A local drama group is hosting a fundraiser to assist in the development of a new Western Alzheimer's day care centre.
The charity intends to scale up its operations in Roscommon with plans to build the facility on the Athlone Road.
The purpose-built day care service has been earmarked for a site near Hannon's Hotel.
It will provide a range of services including family support group meetings and dementia advisory services.
Planning permission has been granted for the new facility and work is commencing on tender documents.
Roscommon Drama Group will stage two one-act plays later this month with proceeds going towards the project.
Mairead Nally is the Chair of Roscommon Western Alzheimer's and also a member of the drama group.
She says one of the plays, 'Last Lists of My Mad Mother', touches on the topic of dementia and caring for loved ones:
