Calls for a law change which would ensure driving bans commence from the time of release have been welcomed locally.
As things stand, people convicted of dangerous driving causing death are disqualified from driving for a time.
However, it begins from the day of their sentencing, meaning much of the ban is served by the time they're out of prison.
