The Government need to do more to support those on Community Employment Schemes and the supervisors who work with them.
That was the call from Longford Councillor Garry Murtagh at the most recent meeting of Longford County Council this week.
The Fine Gael Councillor who himself is an outgoing CE supervisor says changes need to be made to the scheme to better support participants.
He's calling on the Social Welfare Minister Dara Calleary to have the department conduct a full review of the CE, Rural Social and TUS Schemes.
The schemes are designed to help people who are long-term unemployed or who have a disability get part-time and temporary placements in jobs in the community.
The North Longford representative wants to the an increase to the top up payment for participants as well as a review of the supervisor's salaries and pension entitlements.
