A local councillor has played down speculation that an IPAS centre could be set to open in Drumshanbo. Letters outlining plans to open a centre in the town were sent out to local residents in recent days.
A query was submitted to Leitrim County Council regarding the use of a former hostel as refugee accommodation last year. However, local councillor Enda McGloin says that has now been withdrawn. Cllr McGloin says the letter sent out to residents is disappointing:
