Businesses along the N63 Athlone Road in Longford have raised serious concerns regarding street improvement works in the area. Over 60 business people have contacted Longford County Council in relation to potential disruption. Plans include a footpath and cycle track from the railway bridge at Townparks Industrial Estate and the Royal Canal at Cartronageeragh.
Chairperson of Longford Chamber of Commerce Fulton Grant says businesses want a clear plan for when works will take place. Speaking Shannonside News, he said the Chamber wasn't against progress but ongoing roadworks spell trouble for local commerce:
