Roscommon crash victim Kitty Lavin has been fondly remembered as a ‘psychologist-cum-journalist’ at her funeral Mass.
The 89-year-old died last Thursday when she was hit by a truck in Frenchpark village while she was walking.
She lived nearby, in the townland of Mullen, and was a widow with three children.
Her funeral took place in St Asicus’ Church in Frenchpark this morning, ahead of her burial in Cloonshanville cemetery nearby.
Gifts were brought to the altar to symbolise her loves in life – a copy of the Roscommon Herald, a sod of turf, car keys, a mobile phone, a family photo, and rosary beads.
One of the prayers of the faithful was for the lorry driver, with the reader saying: ‘May God comfort him.’
Fr Micheál Donnelly remembered Kitty’s smile and her sharp mind, which he said belied her 89 years.
