Former Leitrim councillor Des Guckian is being remembered as a 'fearless' politician following his death.
He passed away peacefully this morning after an illness, while aged in his late 70s.
He quit Leitrim County Council last month, on health grounds, and his daughter Irene has taken over his seat.

Des had been a councillor for 11 years and was a retired school teacher.
