Leitrim woman loses bid to become Green Party chair

Voting finished last night.

A Leitrim woman has lost her bid to become the next chair of the Green Party.

Blaithin Gallagher who was a General election candidate last year is the current chair of the party's executive committee.

The election was held by postal ballot and concluded last night where outgoing chair Hazel Chu was replaced by Galway West Senator, Pauline O'Reilly.

In a post on social media last evening the Mohill native said she is proud to be in a grassroots party and believes she ran a good and respectful campaign.
