The body of Leitrim man Liam Farrell will be reburied later this morning. It follows an exhumation of his remains as part of a cold-case investigation into his death. Liam Farrell's body was exhumed from Cloonmorris Cemetery in Bornacoola on April 10th, per the order of the Minister for Justice. It's part of a renewed investigation into the suspicious circumstances surrounding his death in January 2020. The 87-year-old was found dead at the back of his house in a bloodied and bruised state.
His official cause of death was a heart attack, but his family believes he was violently attacked beforehand. Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly ordered a cold case investigation into his death last September. His remains were taken to Dublin for a forensic post-mortem examination - and his reburial will be taking place at the cemetery at 10 o clock this morning. The Farrell family is inviting anyone who wishes to form a Guard of Honour to attend their father's final ceremony.
