Leitrim GP says no-one sector responsible for local spike in Covid cases

The county has shot to the top of the incidence rates in the last number of days.

A Carrick-on-Shannon GP says there doesn't appear to be any one reason for a significant spike in Covid cases in Leitrim over the past couple of weeks.

Dr Jonathan Egan was commenting as the latest figures show Leitrim has the highest 7-day and 14-day incidence rate of the disease in the entire country presently.

The number of confirmed cases in the county in the 7 days leading up to midnight on Monday of this week are 270.

Dr Jonathan Egan of Carrick Medical Centre says the cases are appearing across a wide age range and the Carrick-on-Shannon local electoral area also has a high rate:
