Just over 1,900 houses purchased by private entities across region

Just over 1,900 houses were purchased by private entities across the Shannonside region last year.
The figures come from recent data compiled by the Central Statistics Office.
The CSO provided a breakdown of the number of non-household property transactions recorded in 2024, as well as the value and mean value of the total sales recorded.
Non-household transactions involve entities other than individual households purchasing or selling residential properties.

These can include private companies, charities, or state bodies.
The most houses bought in the Shannonside region were in Co. Roscommon, with 879 purchased last year at a total value of €156.5 million.
This is followed by Co. Longford, where 522 properties were bought, at a combined sale value of €85.9 million.
507 homes were purchased in Co. Leitrim, at a total of €83.9 million.
Nationally, non-household entities purchased 12,696 dwellings at market prices last year with a total value of €5.0 billion, an increase of 4.1% on the 12,201 purchases made in 2023.
